Hi, I have an Xbox, but I don't have the playback kit yet. I am thinking of buying it, but I may sway towards a Sony player. How does it rate compared to the PS2's abismally poor quality?

Thanks

Right, cheers guys. I think I'm going to opt for the DVD playback on my Xbox, considering we have a standalone player downstairs.

Cheers. ;)

With Matrix or basically action, Xbox does great. During the Office DVD i've got however you have to turn the volume wayyyyy up to drown out the whirring.

In fairness, as a second function of the machine its good. And your right, i saw the DVD playback on my mates PS2, and it was shocking.

I've got a 5.1 system too. Although the Xbox fan really whirring away spoils an atmospheric film such as "the others".

I suppose it doesn't help that my Xbox is completely exposed on a shelf behind where I sit. But it sure is one damn noisy player.

It is quite noisy but thanks to my 5.1 system I rarely hear it unless there is a lot of dialogue. Before I got my 5.1 system I had to higher my TV up to a very loud volume just to shut out the background noise. The quality is great though and it is of the highest order :)

It's alright. Doesn't work with a very small amount of disks, but it's great for what I want.

Xbox is very noisey. Distracting when watching a movie, if you have the money, I suggest you buy a quiet standalone player.

I've had no problems with the outstanding quality of the Xbox DVD playback so far. Well, so far I've only watched road trip, star wars episode II, LOTR and Black Hawk Down on it.

The Xbox DVD playback is of a very high standard. It is much like a very good stand-alone player. It has all he normal fetures of a DVD player i.e. Zoom, Loop etc.
I would highly reccommend buying the kit as it is worth the money
