What is the best piece of software/hardware to make my brand-new PS2 DVD region free? As a newby, I'm not sure but I do know that some won't work with the latest machines. Any suggestions?

Try DVD Region X. You can get one free with a back issue of PSI:2, or it's £19.99 in most game shops.
