Square has produced some great games down the years, and arguably they are some of the best ever. The idea to start Square on-line seems like a good idea but will people sign up to that if Console's have there own on-line systems. SEGA already have. If every game producer starts there own on-line service the market will be saturated. Which one should we choose?
Going back to Square they produced some great Snes games for Nintendo and then moved to Sony. They seem to follow the best company at the time so keep an eye on which console they will support as they seem to know which will be the most successful (in terms of sales).

For a start it costs thousands of $'s to start up an online gaming site, and plenty of developers have this, but not all will choose to invest their money in this way. As for the market becoming saturated, the Web has thousands of Games sites already, and a couple of hundred more produced by top games companies like Square or EA or Blizzard or Interplay or Virgin can only improve the situation, not worsen it.

As consumers we like to have choice, it is one of the perks of living in a democracy that we can and are able to choose from many different suppliers.
