yes i know this is an old puzzle but some people still can't answer it,

There was a farmer who had a fox, a chicken, and a sack full of grain. He had to cross a river to get back to his home town, but the boat he had was very small so he could only take one thing with him at a time. He could only take the fox, or the grain, or the chicken. Well, if you left a chicken and a fox on one side of the river while taking the bag of grain to the other, the fox will eat the chicken, same thing with the chicken and the grain. Can't leave those two alone or the chicken will eat the grain.

How do you get them all across the river safely?

Go across the bridge.

Or do some things involving leaving the fox with the grain...

Take chicken.
Go back.
Take grain.
Take chicken back.
Take fox.
Go back.
Take chicken.
