With this new year comes new hopefully more advanced games, but what about this year? Well I’m sure you will all realise that the year has ended- no? well then I’m here to give you the top 20 games of the year rundown (published by games master January issue) of course if your top 20 is different please post it.

20: Neverwinter nights - PC

The critically acclaimed Neverwinter nights lands number 20 in our chart. Reviewed by many as the best RPG of all time, filled with magic and sorcery. One of only 4 PC games to get in the top 20 it is surely a high achiever, but for all of the great and good reviews we have had bad ones with the old same old, same old comment coming into play. It is undoubtedly deep game with ups and downs but maybe try it out first.

19: Colin McRae Rally 3 - Multi format

Colin McRae is the 3rd instalment in his series made fairly obvious by the name and this time it boasts better graphics, McRae is now the Tony Hawks of the racing world only a bare few rally games inching ahead of his firm stronghold on the market.

18: Ratchet and Clank - Playstation 2

The first game on the list that I can’t say I have played but by all accounts it is fantastic but sadly it was released at a time when Grand theft auto - Vice city overshadowed it in many ways. It is one of those cute but deceptively violent games reminiscent a lot of the Xbox game Blinx or even Whacked. The first successful platformer for PS2 in a fair old time it really puts life back into a fading genre.

17: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi outcast - PC

A first person third person platform shooter or something to the same effect. Jedi Knight gives you for the first time the chance to alternate between first person shooter mode and third person. And it had light sabres! The true essence of a star wars game. When in Light sabre 3rd person mode you have 3 different attack modes open to you; quick but not so deadly medium speed, medium power and slow but powerful. There is also a vast array of weaponry available for 1st person mode. I liked this game one of my favourites for PC second only to Unreal.

16: Super Monkey Ball - Gamecube

Ok rolling a trapped monkey around a tilting platform may not sound to tricky or even to exciting but this Gamecube launch game is truly the essence of a great party game, one to play with your friends, drunken or sober. The number of mini puzzles is quite astounding heh they probably even have AJ’s ideas in there.

15: Final Fantasy X - PS2

Final Fantasy X (or 10 to you non Romans) was the 4th playstation instalment in the Final Fantasy series and this time it has made the step from PSX to PS2, showing off new graphics and deeper plots. As always the game itself is- well massive. As is the norm nowadays with FF games the characters and plot are different yet they keep to the same ‘Save the girl and the world’ routine, but hey its still a great game.

14: Unreal Tournament 2003: PC

Ah Unreal personally my favourite PC game here and after the massively acclaimed Unreal tournament I expected a lot, an it delivered the only flaw being the veritable ‘Beast’ of a PC required to play it. Save the fact that a lot of PCs simply can’t run the game it is awesome, sowing us new super sharp graphics and puppet-like deaths known as rag doll techniques in which your character well just goes limp arms, legs and any other non-firmly attached vital organ can go flying.

13: Project Gotham Racing: Xbox

Project Gotham, another launch day title and another personal favourite of mine, adding what (in my eyes) the whole racing genre needs; real time damage. As GT3 was for PS2 well so is Project Gotham to Xbox with real steering and car control just adding to the feeling of excitement.

12: Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4: Multi Format

Well you all know the plot by now: there isn’t one just a load of areas and goals. Personally I feel that the whole Tony Hawks fad is on the decline mostly due to the lack of new parts to the game. However this does have good graphics and is fun to play but you have to ask ‘is it worth £40?’

11: Timesplitters 2 - Multi Format

Eidos have come back seemingly with a vengeance this game was supposedly the FPS of the year behind halo and had the best multi player option of any console, but for me the lack of crosshair and few enemies in the single player mode leave this game lacking, so much in-fact that I took it back to the SR shop I bought it from. By this I mean on the first and second level once you have killed a few evil men it is simply a case of completing the objectives.

10: Resident Evil - Gamecube

Resident evil Is back - different console, different story, different graphics, same zombies. As the advert for the new film says ‘evil never dies’ and there is clearly a link between this and the string of games it spawned from. But this isn’t a bad thing and for me this is my favourite ‘resi’ game bringing a whole new interest. The game sees far more ‘realistic’ deaths for the zombies; a knife alone not being enough to kill one. Cut scenes as always are of the highest standard bringing a new dimension of fear to the genre.

9: Pro Evo Soccer 2:

Not much to say about this to be honest, what can I say it is a football game with different difficulty settings and more advanced graphics. Full stop.

8: Super Mario Advance 2 - Gameboy Advance

96 levels yes 96! Super Mario World was by many thought of as the best SNES game ever and for good reason so what have nintendo done? Well nothing really they have kept it as it was and added super Mario bros. As a bit more incentive to buy.

7: Super Smash Brothers Melee - Gamecube

After Smash brothers on N64 I think we all expected much an obviously so nintendo wanted to give much, not releasing this on the ‘Cube launch date. The game follows the same basic idea of its predecessor but with more improved featured such as graphics and sound.

6: Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault - PC

Well another game I have not played so I shall leave this one for you to rate.

5: Super Mario Sunshine -

Yes ‘MARIO IS BACK (only on nintendo Gamecube)’ and this time plumper and uh well not more Italian than ever. The graphics although retaining the playful happy feeling seem smoother and clearer. This is one of my all time favourite games.

4: Advance Wars - Gameboy Advance

This is another I haven’t played.

3: Metal gear Solid 2 - Playstation 2

Ah Metal Gear solid for me bettered only by ‘Splinter Cell’ this will go to your head beware ‘Stealtheritis’ may overcome you!

2: Halo - Xbox

Best. FPS. Ever!.

1: GTA: Vice City - PS2

Ok I’ve not played this so I’ll leave it to you.

Well there you go then the top 20 games supposedly. So please tell me what you think the top 20 should be. Personally I fell Splinter Cell and Dead or Alive should have been there and GTA: VC not at number one.

This game made the top 5, and still is a very good game.

Due to that I never play games on my PC, so No comment here.

Finally a monkey game, one everyone has been waiting for, and everyone was DISAPOINTED.

Unreal Tournament, brings back memories, and what a game it was and what a game it still is, Unreal Tournament rules.

Tony is back on the track, brilliant games by acclaim and very enjoyable, this should be out of the top 20 though.

Dont like Timesplitters.

Resident Evil used to be my favourite game, and still is one of them, but I haven't played the one on the GC.

Pro Evo Soccer 2 is better than Fifa, and TIF, and Pro Evo is one of the best Football game out.

Due to that it has 96 levels it is extrememly fun but does get boring after a while, and it is a good game created by Nitendo

Never heard of this game but I cant comment on it either so I will leave it out.

Medal Of Honour: Allied Assault is one of the best games I must have played on the PC

> 5: Super Mario Sunshine - GameCube

well, the graphics are excellent, the new FLUDD device is innovative and adds an extra layer of depth to the gameplay, it is quite a long game, with lastability, many bonus levels (which are fun), you can ride yoshi adding different takes on the original mario gameplay.

> 4: Advance Wars - Gameboy Advance
>

I have never played a Gameboy really.

> 3: Metal gear Solid 2 - Playstation 2
>

Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of liberty is one of the best game I played in 2002, but it bored me due to that I completed it in 2 night of renting, anyway it is still a good game and always will be.

> 2: Halo - Xbox
>
> Best. FPS. Ever!.

Halo is one of the best X-Box game I have played, the best FPS on X-Box and the best I have played.

> 1: GTA: Vice City - PS2
>
> Ok I’ve not played this so I’ll leave it to you.

If you haven't played Grand Theft Auto: Vice City you must have no Friends.

Honestly, could you have picked a more pants bunch!

Where's Mario Party 4? And Project Gotham Racing?.. that should be Burnout 2!

Metal Gear Solid 2, I mean come on! It was good for about a day then it just got a little bit daft in my opinion, plus you weren't allowed to control Snake much, the bloke that made the game a hit in the first place.

Sheesh. I only agree with Halo, Ratchet & Clank, Vice City, PES2 and Allied Assault.
