As my recent enquiry in the forums regarding the delivery dates for PS2s went unanswered, I've just called SR's Customer Service line, and been told that the estimated delivery time for PS2s is still 3-5 weeks away!! This makes the delivery date late-February/early-March, and means that I'll probably have been waiting 2 months for the console. Can this really be right?
I was quoted "3-6 weeks" back on 07/01/2002, two days after I ordered the console. If SR had quoted "6-11 weeks" back then, I'd have cancelled the order straight away.
What's going on SR?? I could have picked a up PS2 in town yesterday, but didn't, as I was under the impression that they'd be in this week or next. If the High Street shops can get stock, why can't SR?
I don't want to cancel my order, as I obviously got a good deal through SR (that's why we're all here), but I can't understand the reason for these excessive delays, epsecially when they're on the shelves in some High Street shops.

Just to reiterate what Shadow said - there's a reply to this topic in the Customer Services forum. I cross-posted this message there too, as it seemed like a relevant topic to both forums.

Seeing the consoles on the shelves in Comet (of all places) just adds to the frustration when you're subsequently told by SR's Customer Service Line that the delay will be twice as long as you were originally told!

I was just reading this thread and wanted to comment, yes it is frustrating having to wait a month (possibly more for a ps2, I have only just ordered mine so I have the same joy to look forward to), however I also think that it is unfair to blame special reserve for sony not making enough consoles I have a friend who ordered a ps2 elsewhere from another very reputable dealer and it is exactly the same he was told it would be at least a months wait as sony are currently not able to keep up with demand as far as I understand. Also bear in mind that this has pretty much been an ongoing problem for all suppliers and similar situations ccured with the original playstation I remember looking round for months before eventually ordering from a catalogue!! Also the ps2 that have been seen in stores If that's the case then lucky you I live in a fairly big city and wherever I look all I get told is no those boxes are display only they are out of stock!!
I know this is easy for me to say as I havent had to wait long yet and maybe in a months time it wont be so easy for me but at least I will be a month closer to getting my PS2 than I am now or if I had never ordered it!!!!!!!!!

Look on the Customer Service forum and you will get the answer. It is not SR's fault there is a shortage of PS2.
