Ever since the Americans made netball into something actually watchable and a bit athletic and skillful and giving 7ft people a guaranteed job for 15 or so years they have just gotten better and better and better. Apart from minor hiccups in past olympic games (usually not putting out their best teams) america have virtually dominated this game.
Now anyone who watched the basketball games at sydney 2000 will be saying
*hold on a minute there Ben, America only just managed to squeak by a couple of their games and they were lucky to win it, the world is getting better*
well let me ask you this in return
*where was Shaq? where was Kobe? Where was Duncan?*
and that's just to name 3. the answer was back at home watching the likes of Kevin Garnett struggle against the likes of china that Shaq, Kobe or Big Dunc could beat in their sleep.
If the USA wanted to they could send those players to the next Olympics and totally destroy any country that dares to get in the way of Shaq and Kobe.
They could even send Jordan over as well to go along with the likes of Carter (one of the few of the very best who went to sydney 2000), Kidd, Iverson, Walker, Francis, and the others i've named above. Now all those players, some of the NBA's finest would stroll it all the way to the gold medal and let russia and china or whoever fight over who's going to get the honour of being second.
So for anyone who's wondering who to put their money on in the 2004 olympics basketball medals then i'd suggest as the very safest bet in the world hell while your at it put your grannies false teeth, your mortgage and your kids on the line as well to go to the bookies and put it all on the good ol' USA because when it comes to being the very best America are at the top of a very very high perch looking down at the rest of the world.
