But now, kid's TV seems to be filled with either gurning idiots, people trying to be 'down with the kids', or permanently smiling faces with nothing to say. Where has the inspiration gone? Is it an age thing? Most presenters now are a lot younger, and have quite often got into TV presenting by the most tenuous of links (eg. being on Big Brother, or from some manufactured pop band). Ant and Dec are funny, and do a good job, but they don't fit into that 'inspirational' bracket. Is it a thing of the past?
But Johnny Ball was cool.
Even Philip Schofield was cool, presenting the kids TV shows and Going Live. I think when Andi Peters came along, he ruined it, trying to be cool, rather than just being cool. Since then we've had gurning idiots.
Johnny Ball in "How", Tony Hart, Chris Kelly, all these people.
They had an air of authority, they knew things. They were grown ups and you listened.
Even the kids shows,Why Don't You etc rocked, because they were our own age.
But like mentioned below, it's all vapid teen hosts reading auto-cues and waiting for their chance to host the lottery.
TV today is pants, but kids tv is loud shouting fast moving pants.
no wonder generations are getting stupider and slower.
