But then ofcourse came along the Saturn (gag). This poor excuse for a console set SEGA back several years due to Casper games and relatively slow beat 'em ups. I think the Saturn may have led people away from the superb next console, the Dreamcast. The first online, it rocked.
With the addictive qualities of the 'hold down forward and hope' method to Sonic Adventure's madness, this console was technically sound.
Unfortunately, it didnt sell. hardly at all. With new kids on the block sony, it was a sore time for those Japanese elites. The Dreamcast almost scraped up profit with Phantasy Stay Online. Beautiull rpg, great online capabilities. Didn't work though, SEGA drew out and first stopped production of Dreamcasts, then the games, then they announced they were becoming Software Only. Shame.
So Before you all start to turn on your Xboxes, Gamecubes and PS2s, just remember those days of side scrolling Sonic, The 'Saaaygaah' intro and all the glory of SEGA (strategically missing out the Saturn). Remember the Game Gear, ahead of it's time. The Master System, with it's controller that astounded everyone. The Mega Drive, home of the best platformers. And the Dreamcast, the coffin of SEGA. Tearfull, ain't it?
>graphics equal to the mega drive
Nah that was the Nomad!
Anyway, yer Sega is a great company and made some great games, that made people think twice.
I still have all my Sega consoles.
And i aint getting rid of them.
