I have recently built a pc and it all works 100% fine. It has yet to have a bad crash. However there are 3 niggly problems.

1) Whenever I use XPs "Turn Off Computer" option the pc turns off, and then turns itself back on immediately.

2) Whenever I turn the pc on it jumps to BIOS Safe Mode claiming the system hung due to an improper CPU setting (The pc runs fine so I think this might be related to part 1). Must point out that XP does take a while to boot though with 3 noticeable pauses.

3) If I plug a Saitek Cyborg 3D joystick into the on board Games Port the pc fails to boot. The graphics card jsut dies I think. Not really a problem fo rme though as I am shortly purchasing a USB joystick.

Any ideas on these problems or has anyone come across them before?

My pc spec -

Athlon XP-1800+ Processor
1 x 512mb DDR PC2100 Unbranded RAM
Asus A7V266-E Motherboard with on board sound
Elsa Gladicac 920 64mb DDR Geforce 3 Graphics Card
40gb IBM Deskstar ATA 100 Hard drive
LG DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive
56k V90 Modem
Coolermaster Processor Fan plus 2 additional case fans

The board has a jumperfree mode allowing for the chip to be set up via the BIOS.

Cheers for any help

Its always been like that. I sent the first of the two unbranded DIMMs back as it was faulty. The keyboard is brand new. It doesnt seem to affect the machine running but it does cause problems with me explaining to my folks how to log on and log off and so forth lol.

In all seriousness... Is your keyboard plugged in properly / functioning correctly? The only reason I can think of for it to jump into BIOS mode is that your keyboard is knackered so the BIOS gets messed up. Sorry, not really my department, was it working OK from the start and have these faults "developed" lately, or was it always like that?
