The problem is they've dubbed all of the speech into English. Sure there's the yada yada yada artistic integrity yada argument but for me it's different. I'm doing French A-level at school, and I tend to watch a fair amount of French films, I'd been waiting this one eagerly for some time and now they've just gone and ruined it for me. Sure the film will still be good, and wonderfully shot but some of its magic will be lost. The distributors haven't even added an optional French track with English subtitles.
Maybe I'm a purist but I would much rather watch a film as it was originally intended rather than one that's been tailor-made for people with the attention span of a goldfish. I don't mine dubbing too much, but I want to be able to choose whether to have it or not. It doesn't matter if you can't understand what's being spoken, from the sound of the words you can understand a great. Someone sitting in a studio reciting words off a script into a microphone doesn't quite achieve the same thing.
