I noticed that within the options menu that there is a Dolby Digital 5.1 option.

Soooo of course I just had to flick it on to see what the score was.

Cue the intro and BANG!!!
D O L B Y D I G I T AL.
None of this pro-logic pap - full blown 5.1 Dolby Digital.

My god - it sounds fantastic as the cars drive past, the rain falls around you.....

HOWEVER.
It seems that the 5.1 is restricted to appearing in the cut-scenes and apparently only in the big ones.
I've completed this demo before with ZOE and there are a few cutscenes throughout the game.

After the main intro though the other cutscenes where not in 5.1 so it's possible that it may be only an occasional appearance - we'll obviously have to wait for the full game for that.

Anyway, I know I'm in the minority with my sound kit here but trust me - it sounds incredible.

God knows where you found that garbage!

To get 5.1 Dolby Digital or DTS sound you need:

A device that can output such a signal (PS2 & Optical cable for example).

An amplifier/decoder (Dolby Digital &/or DTS compatible).

6 Speakers (left, centre, right, rear left, rear right, subwoofer - this is the .1 part in 5.1).

Then most amps will detect the incoming DD 5.1/DTS signal and bingo - REAL surround sound.

My amp showed that the big MGS2 intro was in full 5.1 Dolby Digital but in-game wasn't.

Of course this is only the demo so the full version may include 5.1 more often but I think it's unlikely to be included in-game (which will be a shame).

I don't know what setup u've got but i saw on the website it says that unless ur setup is 100% dolby 5.1 then you will only here through dolby 5.1 for some things....don't now how that sums up but thats what it said.....oh and t have 5.1 do u need additional speakers or will a 5.1 t.v. work on its own?
