So what does the future hold in store for us gamers and technophiles? I'll tell ya...
1. Standing in a store clutching three copies of latest incarnation of GTA or Metal Gear Solid, one for XboX3, one for PS4 and one for Nintendo GameBall wondering which console you should buy it for. Which will it be best on?
I'm already having this problem so I can see it getting worse as time goes on - OR - maybe it will get better as all the consoles will just be so good the only difference between them will be the shape, colour and control pad?! Oh yeah - and price!
2. All computer/console games that you buy will have the Microsoft label on them, because in the year 2009 they decide that they hold the rights and patents to 'computer games' because they say so. Anyway, one of Microsofts secretary's uncle's half brother's friend's grandad was the guy who made the first game on a computer who's operating system was based on an unpatented idea that Bill Gates was going to have 5 years later, so you see Computer Games are a Microsoft invention. Many court cases follow.
This will happen, honest!
3. Whilst shooting humans off to Pluto, Cloning perfect humans and generating Gigawatts of energy from a single teaspoon of water will all be commonplace, games consoles, PC's and home cinema kit will all still have a mass of cable spaghetti behind them. For as much as the master brains of the planet are solving the universes problems, they still can't find a proper way around messy cables.
I hate cables.
4. Games consoles and electronic entertainment will come as standard built-in with all electrical appliances by the year 2010. Bored with playing the built in games in your TV, Car, Mobile Phone and wristwatch, whilst waiting for the kettle to boil you will be able to play Mario in Dolbly Digital 15.1 on the kettle handle, or grab a quick game of Gran Tourismo 6 on the way into the fridge for a sandwich. Whilst technology gets smaller, playing games on your trainers or toothbrush will be the norm. Problems arise in 2011 when consumers complain about losing their tiny technology driven consoles, most common reports of losing consoles - "accidentaly breathed in".
It must be noted though, that whilst other manufacturers technology got smaller and sleeker, Microsofts consoles were getting bigger. Following the trend from the breeze block known as the Xbox, Xbox3 is modeled on the stylings of the Zanusi 1210 fridge freezer, the control pad for which was only operable by freakishly large handed people or two 'regular' people at once.
Oh well, enough of my insane ramblings - the nurse has come to wheel me out of the internet room. Time to put those funny headphones on my temples again...

Your cable problem will be solved by BlueTooth technology. Everything will be wire-less. Microchips will communicate telepathically, at the speed of thought; 50% of the profits from this technology will then be claimed by Bill Gates who once wrote a book called 'Business at the Speed of Thought'. BlueTooth will be renamed BlueGates.
BlueGates will then market this wire-less technology to enable you to, as stated in the initial post, play games on your kettle handle, trainers, toothbrush, fridgemagnets etc.
By 2010, MicroSoft BlueGates Retro Division will then start marketing cables as a trendy optional extra; not only are cables now retro, but they improve BlueGates technology by 100% because they actually allow information to be sent from one place and arrive at another, unlike BlueGates which has been sending information to the CIA 'by accident' for the last 10 years via radio waves.
