Why is it that some game companies along with their producers and programmers make rubbish games that could have exceeded into a superb 'ps2' title?

Games like 'GTA3', 'Devil May Cry', 'Max Payne' have clearly been designed to stretch the 'PS2s'capabilities, but then along come games like 'salt lake 2002' 'Smackdown 3' and 'Simpsons Road Rage'(just to list a few) which have been designed with 'old hat' gameplay and mediocre graphics! If only game designers took their time reserched properly and asked 'US' the game buyers what we would like to see in a game instead of bashing off a game in 'under 1 year' and then releasing it with 'hundreds' of 'flaws' throughout the game.

'GTA3' is a gaming 'epic' that obviously took time and effort to design and produce, but the effects paid off because it won numerous awards for its 'intuitive' gameplay and breath-taking graphics that shhok the gaming world and made people aware of what a true game should look and play like!

If only game designers took more time on the game, added more levels, smoothed out the in-game textures and turned their games into award winning titles which helps boost the companies reputation and gives the public a game to remember! In '1 years time' I won't remember 'Simpsons Road Rage' nor will i be playing on it, but 'GTA3' I will play on for years to come and still be enjoying the great design and freshness of what the game brought to the widely growing industry.

Is there an explanation to why they rush into deisning one off games that no-one can remember or do they do it for a reason, I would realy like to know why all games can not be as good as 'GTA3' and many other top 'PS2' titles, the 'PS2' is a very powerful machine that has and can break more into the gaming industry producing excellent games that 'myself' and other gamers out there will go out and buy, so if the game desiners took more time on their titles people wouldn't be wasting good money on rubbish games!

I have to hold my hands up, i own Simpsons road rage and i have to say i like it. I also have Crazy taxi and i like the road rage game better.

I get what your saying though, its like the star wars games, using there names to sell when clearly there crap. Another prime example is Harry Potter. Just recently with Xmas we saw loads of games come out with brand names that sold well because of that very reason. All we can do is make sure that we research the games well before we spend any of our money.

I posted something about this a while ago except to do with gameplay.

It really annoys me that some games designers try to use a brand name to sell a game that really should be on the PS1 (Simpsons Road Rage is a fine example). Also, they blatently copy each others ideas, like (I'm sorry, I'll have to mention this game again) Simpsons Road Rage.

And to top it off...This game seems to be selling well, just because it has the simpsons name on it.
