ok first off i know this ain't the right forum but most people i know on the site are in this forum so here goes.

i'm gonna buy half life from SR but don't know what package to get. should i get half life for £9.99 or buy the pack of half life, opposing forces and counterstrike for £19.99? someone said you can download the last 2 for free off the net so are they right or not because if so then i'll just buy half life and then download the other 2

i'd go for the twenty quid deal....
cos then when you do download the updats for counterstrike..you don't have to download as much
also opposing force is a good addon too

Yes, I'd do this - although £10 for opposing force is fairly good, I just don't play single player games any more. CS is multiplayer only, besides the training mission, so you can't really "complete" it as such. Consider it completed when you start playing with LCA, QRGR or suchlike...alternatively, give up on hopes of such things and play alongside a crap clan like us =).

Get the £20 pack!! It's value for money and you can play your mates on-line!! It's also a lot easier than spending hours downloading the game! I'm gunna get it, as soon as I have the money.

I bought the Half Life: generation pack, cotaining Half life , opposing force , and counter strike. This was good buy, £20 isnt much to pay. Half Life is great , and the opposing force add on is a great expansion which i advise you to buy. The only problem i found was the counter strike was version 1.0 which is out of date. I dont know if the one your thinking about buying is the more recent one, but it is annoying if it isn't. Straight after i eagerly installed counter strike, it said i had to download the update which was about 75mb :(.
But i think you should get the Generation pack, and then update the counter strike if needed. Also worth a buy is the Second expanison blue shift where you have to be a security guard there at the time. This is the weaker of the two expansion packs, but is still an enjoyable experience. Also the blue shift disk has a high definition pack which updates most the weapons, enemies, and backgrounds which is a nice change.
So go for the Generation pack, if you enjoy it also buy blue shift, and once you have got half life you can download many different mods free of the internet which add a lot of life to the game once you've completed it. These include firearms, day of defeat, and action half life, which are all multiplayer ones. Also there are a few single player mods avaliable to download, like azure sheep and redemption.
Hope this helps. Dave :)

buy the pack, then you get opposing force too, which is a great game to play once you complete half life, plsu your going to spend a lot of tiem downlaoding different mods and updates b4 u play online, if u buy the main pack u do get half of the updates bundled on the cd, meaning u will only need and patch update to play online.

Counterstrike is a must, but so is opp force and the original half life, id reccommend going to www. planethalflife .com for the mods and updates,

hope this helps,

CS shouldn't be too big to download. Besides if you buy it with HalfLife you will need to download around 85mbs of updates if i remember rightly. CS is a wicked game and everyone should download it.
