I've tested a few people and most of them agreed but others were sceptical but couldn't say to the contrary.
So, try it and tell me if you can taste without touching the roof of your mouth with your tongue. I've even tried pushing the food against my tongue to see if it was just the lack of pressure when I didn't push my tongue against the roof of my mouth.
