The playstation 2 is a great console isn't it? But could it really win in a one 2 one with the GameCube?

True the GameCube is twice as powerful as the Ps2.
The Ps2 however seems to be most popular at the moment and I don't think it would like a bit of competition when it goes to war with the GameCube. The GameCube will beat the Ps2 in power but when it comes to. Public Demand I'm not quite so sure, but nevertheless the GameCube is certainly something to look forward to.

Let's take a look at some weaponry these powerful consoles have!

The Ps2 has more features than a Swiss army knife.
It's got an awesome 128-bit processor it's got the facilities for online gaming and it's compatible with Dvd's.
Some of the accessories that are available for the Ps2 are pretty gnarly looking.
Take the subwoofer speakers for example.
They plug into your Ps2 or your telly (I'm not sure which) and they enhance the sound and send it booming round the whole room.
It makes for some impressive gaming. It works even better when you watch Dvd's

The GameCube however doesn't have quite so many features but what it lacks for in features it makes up for in gamely.
The processor in the GameCube is mega powerful providing over 200-bits of pure power!
It should make for some fantastic gaming.
The GameCube has got a built in modem just like the Ps2.
If the online games are as good as the disk games then I reckon were in for a treat in months to come!

But will these two consoles be ready to compete with the next Gen. of consoles?

Even though these two consoles are mega powerful and they may offera small resistance, I don't think they'll be able to compete with the next gen of consoles

When will the next gen of consoles come?
We have already caught a glimpse of what might in store for us in the near future.
The X-box is the next gen of consoles.
The X-box is more powerful than even the GameCube, clocking in at speeds of more than 700MHZ.
So if the X-box is anything to go by then the future of gaming is going to be a exciting ride.

Looking at the awesome power of the Ps2, the GameCube and the Awesome X-box shows you just how much we have come on in making consoles.
And it's all thanks to the creator of the Oscilloscope.

Thanks for reading! :)

With the X-Box and gamecube approaching the ps2 domination over the uk soon will have competition.

As a sampler of what the gamecube has to offer nintendo have given us the GBA to stir up things in arrival of the gamecube.

When all arive there will be a war between three of the biggest companies of this planet, and to win it they need us, to buy, the future of gaming, is in our hands, so choose wisely, and so i am going let you to see hwta your going to buy;

the future of gaming is in your hands

PS2

CPU
128-bit emotion engine
294.14 mhz proccesor

Graphics
147 Mhz
75 million polygons a second

Comment.
1 Year running, an excellent start with the widest range of games, loads of extra hardware such as controllers, dvd remotes, subwoofers to get better sound to add with it. Even able to link uo to another PS2.

Plays DVD's, no internet is a definate. Need to buy multi tap for more than 2 people games.

We hhave yet to see the full graphics capabilities of PS2, Jax and daxter, GT3A, GTA3, red faction, are best examples of graphics so far, and with dropship and metal gear solid 2 coming, the playstation 2 is becomme better than before.

Gamecube, Release Spring 2002, around 200 quid

Proccesor
IBM Power "gekko" 405mhz

Graphics
6-12 Milliion a second (worse than PS2)

Internet capability (optional clip on modems)
56 K modem
Broadband Modem

Yep still has that kid feeling doesn't it, best for multi player with 4 ports and optiional modems. Play your Gameboy advance on it as a controller is a big definate, you can be sure that games like pokemon, interacting game boy with nintendo is gonna be better, gba with gc, brand new pokemon games or something else?

there is no dvd option definate though but panasonic are making a more expensive silver sexy lookin version of the with dvd drive

xbox, Release 14th March, around 300 quid

Processor
Pentium 3 733 mhz CPU

Graphics
Custom designed Nvidia card 250 Mhz, 3x more than any other console

Memory
8GB Hard drive

Interenet
Optional broadband

The power of a pc, just for games, the most powerfull graphics with a custom designed graphics chip, dvd's require add on.

Interenet needs broadband only so that is and iffy thing, you either have boradband or not. The console for you if all your asking for is power.

But, the games developed (Not by microsoft) by people like thq-games, can be delyed and very few in numbers at first because of the games software used to make the games supplied by microsoft

The Decision is yours, i have a PS2, i choose it for the definate no interent as a game console, the best range of games over 1 year, and better band bigger ones to come, excellent graphics able to keep up with the x-box? and dvd option as standard. Research shows that the majority of people with a ps2 use it for dvd's.

So the question is, Who will you support, or maybe who won't you support? Will you buy 1, 2 of them, all 3, or none. Choose wisely as the future of gaming is in our hands.

I think if the GamCube and The Ps2 want to compete with the X-box they need to come up with something drastic.
Or he X-Box will just trample over them!

Nice post DM. The battle between the PS2 and GameCube will be close. But seeing as the GameCube sold a pretty load in North America, who knows. With the X-Box's power, it will obviously overpower bothe GC and PS2, but the question is, will it's popularity bring it down?

You can't really compare the consoles in terms of power, as they're all built in such different ways, and work differently, that no real comparisons can be made.

Also the Gamecube's modem isn't built it, but will be available separately, like the PS2's.

I think the main difference between the machines is in the types of games we'll get to play, and we all know that the best ones will be on the Gamecube. ;-)
