I own a Gamecube and was considering bying a PS2 but.....
when I was looking at release dates, I couldnt see one good exclusive out this year.
Tell me, I am wrong and list a few please.
Ps. I dont like GTA. Talk about repetitive.

It's worth getting for the exclusives that are already out e.g. Ico, Gitaroo Man, FFX, GT3, Vice City etc. I doubt Devil May Cry will be multiformat as the original wasn't.
I'm in two minds about SOCOM to be honest. First, it seems the biggest kick is getting to play online, and with Sony Europe dithering all the time over the PS2 going online in Europe, SOCOM may just get resigned to another great online game that gets released over here with the online features removed.
The other thing is....it looks just like Conflict: Desert Storm (another good PS2 'exclusive', except it's on the XBox as well).
Overall I'd say a PS2 is worth getting. I got my nephew a Gamecube for Xmas, so play on that from time to time, but I'm still getting games for the PS2 like Pro Evolution Soccer 2, Driver 3, The Getaway, Tomb Raider, and still playing the old ones like Gran Turismo 3, Wipeout Fusion etc.
He complains about not being able to play CDs or DVDs on his, I complain about not being able to play Star Wars: Rogue Leader on mine. If I could own both I would.

Metal Gear Solid looks good, but I think it will come to GC eventually and/or I could get it on PC. As for Tomb Raider, I cant stand unless they change the Gameplay. Devil May Cry is coming to GC I thought.

Having said that, those are only exclusive for PS2 'now'. It doesn't mean that they won't eventually get to the Gamecube in another shape or form later.
