But I've never had a console that has broken. Sure, like many I've bust a couple of megadrive pads, and I had a bit of trouble with the shoulder buttons on the PS2 pad sticking, but I've never broken a machine.
Does this make me lucky? Or is it because I'm careful? Perhaps my games have always been as immaculate as my CDs because I handle the discs in the same way: with care, clean the player regularly and run the entire system through current-surge protector.
But even though I know people who don't quite treat their discs and players in the same delecate way as I do, people on here who I trust would not be so dunce as to lend a mate a disc without it's box still have trouble with their machines. I've read posts on here that countless PS1's have gone on the eppy, just as many X-Boxes, and loads of PS2's. One guy was saying that he was on his seventh PS2, though I really can't see that.
But not including pads, I've never had a problem with any machine or any of it's games. I had a release day master system which lasted until I sold it to get a release day Megadrive. I had a release day PS1, which played flawlessly until I gave it to a cousin when I got my release day PS2, which (touch wood) has yet to have a problem either. I've also had a SNES, a Lynx, a Gameboy and Gamegear and countless other machines without any problems.
Am I just lucky?
When is someone going to invent a cheap-to-produce
> cartridge system....?
And one that can hold over a megabyte of information?
2015 is my guess.
I've had a fair few faulty games though - CDs and their scratch-ability. When is someone going to invent a cheap-to-produce cartridge system....?
Though I'm pretty certain it was my own fault somewhere along the line..
I've generally had no problems myself, but a friend of mine has had several problems with games and consoles. He might just be unlucky, or it might be because of the huge number of games he gets through and the amount of use his consoles get, but it definitely isn't because he doesn't take care of his stuff. It's all in pristeen condition, (notwithstanding one dreamcast controller which was smashed to pieces in a fit of rage.)
