I was looking through my games collection but nothing I had was of any interest to me. Yeah sure, the graphics are good, but that doesn't make up for poor or limited games.

It seems that games are just becoming beer trays in shiny packages with a 40 quid price mark slapped on 'em. They might as well not bother making games but sticking in blank DVD-roms or whatever.

I went to my PC where I have a couple of old gems still intact. It was a refreshing thought, having some decent entertainment in the simple 2D form.

I wacked on the good old invaders, I also played some old nintendo greats. Why are the older games so playable? I was content for hours with my retro games, what i want to know is what is wrong with the world. Games are supposed to be getting better but I find myself going back again and again to the old favourites. Although there are some games that break my rule (Pro Evolution Soccer, Timesplitters, Tekken Tag Tournement, etc) I plead to all game creaters, take some advice from the greats of old, PLEASE.

Aaaah... the Dizzy games... happy memories... Oh wait, I used to die all the time! They were frustrating!

Your right, in fact i woz about to start a topic just like this!!!

I have almost given up on these new games that cost pure wedge, they just dont seem to have the lasting power of the late greats.

Although i cant put em all down, there are a lot of quality games out there if u look hard enough.

For instance: try getting the older iss games, im undefeated to this day, goldeneye is quality & the multiplayer makes it doubly good!!, get doom & try 2 complete both 1 & 2. They are old but 4 gods sake man!! space invaders is exstinct!! u need 2 move on......i will if u will. :-)

I don't agree with this at all.

I reckon today's games are superior to those of yesterday.

I do like to look back sometimes at the games I used to play, and some of them are still very strong, and can be played again. Others just seem so basic now.

Maybe you're just buying the wrong type of games?

I think that they're so playable now becasue they're so different to what we're currently used to! Last summer, I found myself playing all my SNES games again, but I then realised that i'd let someone else borrow a load of them! Actually...that may have been the year before.

Game that include a classic/retro mode are good, like Excitebike. Where you can unlock the original NES version of the game by getting so far in the N64 version.

I also think that the next-generation consoles should consider releasing 'Retro-Discs' that contain retro games, so that you can play all of you're old favourites now!
