Erm, that's right, the sense of taste and what are its advantages and disadvantages?

All I'm doing is asking you lot for help on the matter. You see, I need a bit more information about the sense of taste. Maybe, why do we need it apart from tasting food? Is it essential? Can it detect danger?

sense of taste is there so we can eat food we enjoy like chilly, salty or other stuff.

To tell you the truth, I'm doing a talk tomorrow in front of the class, I hate standing up in front of the class, dammit. Anyway, all I have to do is produce an arguement as to why the sense of taste is the best sense of them all. It obviously ain't, but I've got to argue that it is.

It can spot whether something is edible, I expect. It also makes food palatable. If you think of it in terms of basic need, then you would soon get fed up wanting food if you couldn't taste it, even hunger wouldn't be a substitute.

Detecting poison. Poisonous food generally has a bitter taste to it, so your taste buds as the back of your tongue will be triggered, and you'll spit it out.
