John Greogry's resignation was reluctantly accepted by the board today.

I'll post my opinion later, when it has sunk in.

At the end of the day, Gregory did a great job for us considering what he was given. Ellis is to blame, did you know, we are the 19th richest club in Europe!? You know why that is don't you, because Ellis doesn't spend any money.

A net spenditure of a little under £4.2m in a season! What a joke!

You are completely right here, just take out the 'or'. Gregory is was fed up with Ellis not giving him any money to spend. It was all going great until we started to get a few injuries, Gregory asked for more money and all Ellis said was no. Over the past four years, Gregory has spent on average about £4.2m a year which you will all agree is nothing for a club with our ambitions.

I can't see what this as solved to be honest because all the next manager will want is to spend money which apparently is not available.

All I say is ELLIS OUT.

I don't really see what happened to Villa this season??
They started off very well, and were even considered as potential championship challengers! But they're form has since then dropped rapidly, and they're now out of the race. I think that Gregory was either fed up with the way they played, or he was treated unfairly by Doug Ellis. Villa have a good squad, butit just needs someone to sort it out!

Losing Schmeichel would be a HUGE mistake for the new manager, and maybe even David Ginola will be in with a chance to play, as long as he stays! Maybe a new manager will bring in a fresher, new approach to the team??

I'd say that someone like Bryan Robson should get the job! He's currently un-employed, and may be just right for Villa.

He's resigned!? That is a shock I must say. I bet it was Doug Ellis who pushed him out, he was a good manager with nobody to support him in the boardroom
