It's probably best to treat this as pure rumour and speculation at the moment, but I've just been reading on other newsgroups that Sony may be about to drop the PS2 price tag to £169 this weekend.
It's the first that I've heard of it, and I wondered if anybody else had heard any similar rumours or reports. If anyone can provide any evidence either for or against this rumour I'd be interested to hear what you've heard.

I read it was going to be reduced before Feb 5th (the day Nintendo name release date of Gamecube).
