From what I remember from Sim City 2000 and 3000, I think you can switch natural disasters off if you want.

That won't mean you won't be able to use them if wanted to though, there's always the option to choose a disaster and level you're city to the ground, if you get too peed off with the game.

a bit off the main question but can you turn disasters off because by the look of alot of the screen shots its all volcanos and hurricans destroying your city?

No, you're just discovering how hard the game actually is. The previous installments of the Sim City series have always been hard, and from what I hear, SC4 is even harder.

I aint touching Sim City 4 with a 20-foot sim pole. I only have 600Mhz Athlon, 384 MB Ram (alright) and a poor NVIDIA RIDIA TNsomething or other 64. Yippee ki yay. How much is a top-of-the-range graphics card nowadays?

I have a P4 2.4 with over 1Gig of Ram but the game runs so slow, when you move around the screen it takes a few seconds for the buildings to appear. This can’t be right? Also it randomly exits to the desktop and crashes my computer. Nice!
If there is no patch out shortly then its going back.

I've heard the game does have a few bugs with Radeon graphics cards, maybe that's the problem stems from? We need more info to help.

There are a lot of problems with this game, people are having all kinds of problems. They need to bring a patch out, or they should have finished the game in the first place.
