I have now purchased Dreamweaver 3 which I use in college and was wondering how I was to creat a website for everyone in the world to see. From past topics and questions I have come to the conclusion that I need an ISP that provides me free web space.
I looked for a couple of minutes yesterday and found virgin-net. Maybe not the best, but at £14.99 a month, 24-7 and 10MB of free web space I am very intregued.

Am I right in saying that I need Web Space to get my website up and going? Is there anything else that I need? Will it cost me money?

Any help is well appreciated.
Cheers.

I use DW for everything and have been using it for over 4 years now to create all of the sites I've built over the years (Some 30+ now). It has some downfalls and irritations and still isn't as good as coding buy hand, but apart from that, Its excellent for creating sites and site management.

I've just moved to DW4, and this has got some major improvements in work flow tools and layout options but I still use homesite/HTMLKit to clean things up.

As for an ISP... you dont need an ISP to host a site, ISP's provide a service, often with free soace, but the down side is advertinsing on your site that you cant get rid of.

I use a free host with 15MB of space, with the option to ugrade to a larger account for £11 a month, and my own .org.uk URL that cost me £2.50 for the first 2 years and £2.00 renewal from then onwards.

So effectively I set up my own site for less than £3!! No dodgy adverts, no banners, 100% completley unristricted space.

If you interested in who I did all this with, just let me know.

Well, it's very restrictive. but annoyingly quick. Get WS_FTP lite (free), use it, and decide.

Is it a bad idea to use Dreamweaver? I have it, use it, and know roughly what to do with it so I thought it would be ok.

As long as I wont have any problems with using Dreamweaver, then thats fine.

No, you have everything you need although you may consider an FTP program instead of Dreamweaver's. Try WS_FTP lite.
