athlon v duron, both 1Ghz.

is there a lot of difference between them? I know athlon is the better, but by how much. ne1 got any info?

+ I want a new motherboard. I have been to dabs but a lot of their motherboards under £100 dont specify what is the max processor power u can use in them.

only motherboards over £100 seem to specify the max cpu power u can use.

so just wondering if motherboards that have no specified max cpu power, can u put say a 1.4 athlon in or not?

New mobos...the Asus A7V266-E and the Epox 8KHA are both fairly good boards, the asus with a few extra features, but the epox being the overclocker's choice - cheaper, with an easy volt mod. Check the sites for info on the CPUs they'll accept, although I've found these values to be lenient...especially after overclocking. Most XP boards will take cpus up to the 1800, and i presume higher, depends on what multipliers they have available.

most websites have the specs on them, Ihavn't heard of a motherboard that can take ANY cpu, normally 500-1.5 v nice boards. Just get a board DDR Dimms slots.

Not much difference between the two, try using 3DMARK2001's CPU comparison to really see the difference. Go to Motherboard manufacturer's website to tell you the capacities of their boards
