Vieira has been dubbed as one of the best midfielders in the world, let alone Europe! Not only by pundits but also by possibly the world's greatest mdfielder (and France international team mate) Zinedine Zidane!! Patrick has proven that he can be world-class for club and for country, aswell as on and off the pitch. Zidane has also suggested Vieira as a potential international captain! He has proven that he can do the job at club level for Arsenal, which is a good sign for the French manager. He may also be a more 'defensive' styled midfielder but he can bang in a goal or 2, especially from long range!!
How many top European clubs would turn down the chance to sign a player like this??? Arsene Wenger has said that £50m isn't even enough, but will that stop the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus??? Where should he go??
To keep on working hard in England may not be enough to reach his full potential. Another country with a different style, like Italy or Spain, would be good for him. As he could learn a few more tricks, win a few more cups, and gain some more experience to keep France as the world's no.1's! And i'm sure he'd prefer the weather there to here, just like any other top Premiership player!
Juventus - The Italian giants have recently shown the greatest interest in the Frenchman, as the see him as an ideal player to boost their challenges for glory. With Edgar Davids, the highly rated Dutch international, already in their midfield, a midfield partnership would restore Juvé's crown as 'European Giants' once again!! And after splashing out over £20m for a keeper last summer, who's to say that the big-spenders would be put-off by a mear £50m?? But surely Arsenal would want Davids or Del Piero also!
Real Madrid - You may say that the Spanish giants have enough midfielders on their plate, they don't seem to think so! And the board have never seemed to care about how much they spend each year! They were already nearly £200m in debt when they spent £40m on Zidane last summer, and £37.5m on Luis Figo the year before! Add Vieira and another to that duo, and Real would be unstoppable!! They have already shown an interest in the Frenchman, but couldn't come to an agreement. Who's ready to question them over wether or not they'd be willing to part with £50m for a world-class international!!
What about doing an Anelka?? No I don't mean sulk and run off abroad earning your club a bomb! I mean go back to your home country to re-discover your footballing roots. After all, who's to say that he's not un-settled or feeling homesick in England??
Paris SG - Anleka went back there, and they are possibly the biggest club in France, besides Monaco. Just like Arsenal, it's in the capital, and with domestic and European ambitions Vieira may feel happier nearer home. He'd also be playing with a lot more French-speaking team mates (yes, even more than Arsenal!!) and the addition of one or 2 top African players, also French speaking. Being a lot nearer for his home internationals would give him another advantage, and he may find the Freanch football a little less stressfull, helping his previous red card problems at Arsenal.
Monaco - Another French club with a big reputation in Europe. This is a club that has seen the likes of Fabien Barthez, David Trezeguet, and even Vieira himself! All world-class, French internationals. Maybe Vieira would like a move back there, and re-capture his good form, just like Anelka at PSG. But their chances of European glory are a lot slimmer than anywhere else. So moving back to France may not be suitable now, but could be considered nearer the end of his career. If he's looking for European glory then France is not the answer.
Very few Premiership clubs have shown a strong interest in Vieira, but that still didn't stop Manchester United trying last summer. Leeds like to keep things Brittish, and I think Liverpool have enough! So United would be the only other English club. Scotland wouldn't suit him mainly due to the style of play and strength of teams, which a player of his abillity wouldn't find challenging, and would only really slow him down.
Man United - I don't think we'll see him move to United within the next year or 2. United already have a first choice quartet, and Veron isn't that happy as he can't always get a game. Unless United sell Keane or Veron, Vieira wouldn't be a well-planned buy. And i'm sure Wenger and co. would do anything to stop Vieira from joining one of their biggest rivals! Maybe Vieira could be considered as a replacement for Keane, if he does make his 'dream move' upto Celtic?? Vieira would definitley be in with a chance of silverware, and he could even be the new captain!
But maybe Vieira should stay put at Highbury for the time being, for the rest of this season at least. Maybe, if he's still there next year, they may have a good chance of achieving something big in Europe?? But if they don't I feel he should leave in order to reach his full potential! What's the next step for Patrick Vieira???
