Who can I get broadband from, and if anyone has it, do you recommend it now, or should I wait?
I know of Blueyonder, telewest and NTL (a couple of those are the same aren't they?), but they are not in my area.
BT is too expensive. Ideas?

Blueyonder is the brand name that Telewest use to package its Broadband service. I am not in a NTL area so I not sure what they call theirs, might be the same.
Sounds like your in a Non cabled area like me. NTL and Telewest(maybe Blueyonder) work in different areas. I went to the NTL site and put my postcode in. They said you dont live in a cabled area. So I then went to either Blueyonder or Telewest and did the same. But it came up saying, that the area I live in is a NTL area.
So if you cant get cable from either 3 of these companies then your probably in the same situation as iam. I think where I live was supposed to be cabled around April last year.

I have broadband from Telewest, £25 per month inc. calls.
I do not really notice the difference in page loading times, but when downloading it is about 10 times quicker than 56k modem.
