At the moment my PC specs are:
Amd Duron 750mhz
256 megs sdram at 100mhz (192 megs due to onbaord graphics)
SiS 730 intergrated chipset with 64megs sdram at 100mhz(its onboard)
40xcd drive 12x DvD combo
24x4x4 cdrw

Now i play games
Who dont?? :-)
the game i play the most is Quake 3 arena lol
and on a low setting of graphics on the q3dm17 level i get a fps of around 30 at 640x480 16 bit and at a VERY low detail.

My friend owns a Computer store and can sell me a Abit Siluro Geforce2 MX400 with 64megs sdram at 200 mhz for £87.
AGP of course :)
Now......Do you think that this is a good idea and what FPS do you think i could get with it.

Yeah but the thing is ive been saving for about three months or so (money is really tight for me) and im gonna buy it locally. the reason id rather buy it localy is because my the person im buying it of is my friend and he owns a pc shop. and if any thing goes wrong i can tell him. BECAUSE the SiS 730 is a funny chipset. according to the manual it sais "Due to the chipsets specifications the SiS730 can only use the TnT series of graphics cards" but my friends sais that hes had loads of people say that hes got them to work with other makes but, my pc is pretty FUNNY when it comes to installing some new hard ware ANY THING and if it does go right, to me i can tell something is going to happen and it usually does like with my modem
so........

Yes, the MX400 is a good chipset, and game swould play significantly better with this than your current onboard graphics. No offence to your mate, but you could get that cheaper online, as is always the way with hardware..

Do you have an absolute budget? If you're not desperate for it right away (although I can see why you would be..hate onboard stuff, heh), the Kyro III is expected early april, and the GF3 prices are still being forced down..if you could wait for another few months and save a little more, I reckon that there will be better cards around creeping towards the budget bracket.

Well, substantially higher that what you get now. Obviously the GF2 is much, much, much much much better, and you'll get your 64mb of RAM back.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
