OK, I'm making a database in MS Access for my GCSE Project, and I'm just doing a few querys. Is it possible to use wildcards with a popup box thinghy (those that you do using [enter name here] or whatever)??

For example, I have an event called Well Lane Rolling Road Day 2002, but I would like it so the user only has to enter "Rolling Road" or "Well Lane" and for the query to display the event. I've tried *[Enter Event]* but it doesnt work, is there a way of making it work?

Hi
Try entering "Like [Enter a match pattern]" in the criteria. It's only the "like" operator that understands wild cards.

if you've used MS Access and created queries you'll not what I'm on about, you can specify things, so that if you type Well Lane Rolling Road Day 2002 in the Criteria box then the database will display those results.

You can also use square brackets to make the database ask the user something, so for example you could put [Enter Event] and the user will get a popup asking them to Enter Event. BUT they have to enter the full correct name. I want the user to just have to enter part of the name.

The obvious answer is wild cards, but *[Enter Event]* doesnt work.

Its hard to explain, hopefully someone out there has done this.

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
I am delighted.
Brilliant! As usual the careful and intuitive production that Freeola puts into everything it sets out to do. I am delighted.
