why does everyone but Ninty fans think the GC having a small dvd is such a bad idea? I mean, "no" it can't play retail dvds, but it's a game machine, heck yeah i'd like to have a dvd player, but no doubt i'd get better quality from a standard dvd player + i'm waiting for a dvdR to come down in price.
anyway, it's a great idea! what are you baffoons thinking about? so what if you'll be able to get pirate copies for £5 i'm not intrested, it'll go down in price and i'll buy it then, but thats my opinion, and really that doesn't matter, because I know it already, so what do you crazy people think?
and another thing, although it's a little late for Nintendo to change it, and this topic has absolutly no reason for being here as i'm sure if I took a little time and scrolled down, it would no doubt have already been talked about, either here or in the correct forum (sorry) the Ninty forum, but i'm too lazy, my thumbs twitchy (eek) also, i havn't been here for sometime, and would like to know....thanks :)
also, also, thanks for your time for reading this waste, it's much apreciated.

I'm sure

i'd be more than happy with a DVDR + they're already out, no doubt it will take a long time for the RW to be released, like the CDRW, i'm getting a GC anyway, I love them, i want an import but I hate them, i'm one of those people that hangs onto the reciepts n stuff, flying out to Japan or America isn't my thing just to get a new console
then i'll also buy a DVD(R) or (RW) when they become affordable to cretin like me.
+ yes, you are a buffoon, silly.
++ thanks for replying, you made my morning worthwhile, just for the records, the people I talked to about the small dvd, either have a PS2 or havn't played a game since the Amiga or Atari days, DVD is a lost cause.
DVD-R and DVD-RW are the two types of recordable one of them (i cant remember which) is specificly for (again i cant remember which) the panasonic(i think) recordable dvd player

I'm sure you mean a DV-RW?
As many of you know, the PS2 is the most popular console at the moment, and most of you are accessing the internet via PC. That's two potential DVD players in the house already! Why would you need a third?
Ok, it could be useful at some time. But why worry if the lack of a DVD player means the GameCube is much cheaper than it could have been?
The fact the games are now on cheap media should mean a reduction in price now too. Well, according to all those people who claimed that's why Playstation games were cheaper than N64 games, blaming the prices of silicon chips.
The prices of games will be just as high as PS2 and X-box games. But that's got nothing to do with the medium it's on, and developers cost don't influence the prices that much. It's the prices the stores think they can get away with. How else do you think they can sell games much cheaper when their popularity goes down?
Luckily, Special Reserve have been one of the cheapest UK retailers around. Take a look at the prices of Game Boy Advance games. The highest they've been is around £32. The lowest other shops, including Game and Electronics boutique (same company) and Virgin Megastores is £34.99. I know that the shops have reduced some of the prices seeing that the sales are on. Pity Special Reserve aren't the cheapest in the Dreamcast section though. But, from what I've seen, Special Reserve charge around the right amount to give us, the customers, a fair price, and to be able to gain enough profit to give three games or DVD's away each day. You don't see Game or Virgin doing anything close to that do you?
In fairness, there are taxes like VAT and bills for transportation, however I get confused about that when I see games and peripherals being sold for less than a fiver! At least Special Reserve show the prices excluding VAT so we know how much they're getting (excluding what they paid to the publishers to be able to sell the games).
However, it's a pity Special Reserve wont save some of that money and spread themselves around the country a bit more. Wales hasn't got a single Special Reserve store, and I don't think Scotland does either. Sometimes I prefer to go into town and actually browse through videogame stock to see what's available, and to compare prices. I have to admit that I've sometimes bought games from Game and Electronics Boutique even though the prices were cheaper in Special Reserve, but I wanted the game to be available for me to play there and then, and I'd have to wait a couple days (and ask my mum to pay) if I went with Special Reserves catalogue.
So back to the topic, I hope that, because hardware production costs will be down without having DVD hardware included, and because games are now on disc media, we'll see a reduction in Nintendo's game prices. No doubt Special Reserve's competitors will charge X-box prices for the games (around £50), but, just like they did with the Game Boy Advance, hopefully Special Reserve will sell them for cheaper, giving me, and all the other customers here a bit more choice.
