Well, OK, maybe not every film ever. Actually, less than 1% of every film ever. A total of 12 films in fact, which, coincidentally, is the exact same amount as the number DVDs that I own.

The title is a complete lie, but I thought it was snappier than 'Mouldy Cheeses' guide to every film he owns on DVD'.

Whatever. On with the feature presentation...

Antitrust - This came from the Bolockbuster ex-rental bin, so I wasn't expecting it to be amazing. In fact, I thought so little of it that I didn't even read the back of the box before watching the film. That, my friends, was a very good decision.

Not knowing what to expect I was constantly surprised by twists in the storyline. The box actually spoils two of the best bits of the film, which seems pretty stupid to me. Anyway, this film is extremely good. Part conspiracy thriller, part tech thriller, the plot centers around a young programmer who goes to work for Bill Gates (Tim Robbins). The DVD has the only two extras I ask for as well - deleted scenes and a commentary. ****

American History X - Bought this on Mekas recommendation. Ed Norton puts in a top performance, playing the part of a twisted racist to perfection. Emotional, gripping, and it contains one of the most gruesome deaths ever seen ('Bite The Curb'). Some of the dialogue in it can be used as a metaphor for all confused teenage anger - an emotion I’m experiencing a lot lately. If you want something that'll make you think, this is a good recommendation. *****

Charlies Angels - Cost me all of £5 from a mate. Nothing special. Good soundtrack, 3 fitm leads, and a few special effects. Bubblegum for the brain. Has the two essential DVD extras though. **

Fight Club - My first DVD, courtesy of SR. Top DVD extras. The film itself competes with a few others for the title of 'MCs fave film ever'. It raises many philosophical points and leaves them hanging nice and ambiguously, for once letting you make up your own mind. Again, Norton is amazing, and Pitt is pretty goshdarn good himself. 'I want you to hit me as hard as you can' remains one of my fave all time lines (although it's not great for quoting). The ending is also unbelievable. *****

Hackers - Ah yes, Hackers. My pet film. I had this on VHS until my idiot of a brother taped Pokemon over it. Thus, he bought it me for Christmas. I will always love this film - it's fast, it's got a great soundtrack, and it briefly shows Angelina Jolies nipple. Storyline is a bit confusing first time you watch it and it doesn't have much of a message, so it misses out on the perfect 5 stars. ****

The Matrix - If this film was a person, he'd be a guy wearing a leather jackets and shades. And he would be very, very cool. The Matrix is eptitimises coolness. The special effects are the best, ever, and the storyline is damn cool. Bloody brilliant. *****

Pearl Harbor - Stuff blows up, in between a lot of boring dialogue. That’s about all I can say. **

Romeo Must Die - If you look at it as a competitor to The Matrix, it's very disappointing. However, if you consider it to be a training film for the Matrix part deux, then it's competent. Joel Silver, Allyah, and Jet Li, are/were part of the Matrix II at some point (RIP Aliah). Nice fights, over ambitious storyline. ***

Saving Private Ryan - Harrowing, to say the least. The opening beach scene is so shocking, just because it's Speilburg, and completely not what you expect from a Hollywood war film. Some Speilburg cheeseyness, but that is outweighed by the realism. The message? War is hell. *****

The Shawshank Redemption - Brilliant - you can't say much else. Interesting throughout, and when you realize the ending, I challenge you not to smile. Classic. *****

Shrek - Roll on the floor funny. The best kids film of all time. Eddie Murphy is perfect for donkey. Just...so...damn...funny...*****

---

Right... I am aware that I gave half the films a ***** rating. That is quite strange for me - I rate as harshly as possible. Anyway...hope you read it all, and hopefully I gave you some recommendations.

Cheese out.

The matrix is at my school. He wears a big leather jacket and shades and even has a matrix style phone. We call him matrix guy.
