Zombie films?

What happened to them? a lot of you are gonna groan and think Zombie films are brainless gorefests well yes a lot of them are. But really some of them kick some serious as$.

I haven't seen a decent living dead film for ages, it seems they've almost been forgotten underneath the seemingly endless flow of Teen slasher flicks. In fact I can't remember when a decent Zombie flick was last released, there's been some brilliant examples but they where in the late 70's early 80's, films like Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead really took the genre too a different level, not only did they have shocking scenes of gore they also had storylines and character development. But they really look dated now and most film fans are gonna completely ignore them.

I beg you Hollywood make a decent Zombie film for fecks sake, with the sort of special effects we've got nowadays they would rule.

Anyway i'm off to shamble around slowly and eat peoples brains.

the resident evil film will obviously be nowhere near as good as the games, or the living dead trilogy.u can go for things like zombie holocaust for mindless gore, but the living dead series got the mix of gore, humour, and fear created by the reality of the situation perfectly. we need some originality. braindead is excellent, but something new would probably be like a teen slasher flick, aimed at teens. look at the best horror films of all time, such as night of the living dead, pschyo up until more recent films like silence of the lambs (which i think is over rated). how many teenage characters or actors feature in these films? not very many. a zombie film however may rely more on gore than other horror films, but they should also use this to a better effect than just to make the audience scream or laugh.this is why night of the living dead, and dawn of the dead worked so well, as the audience would still be genuinly frightened hours after watching it, and remembering that night of the living dead was filmed in the aftermath of the veitnam war, its impact of showing how the good guys don't always win, was even more powerful

A 12 rating, jeez how can they make a Zombie film aiming for a 12 rating. Blood sucking zombies that want too eat human flesh but there's no real violence, hmmmm.

I think Every one is going to wait and see how RE fairs at the cinema. If it bombs, you can expect to spent the rest of you life asking when another zombie film is going to be made, because there will be no more. But if RE is a success you can expect to be bombarded with so many zombie flicks you will get bored of them. Just look at the teen slasher and teen horror films.

Well, the Resident Evil film comes out this year. Will it be good i wonder??
It is a shame though that the last decent proper zombie films were Dawn & Day of the Dead.
If you have an all region dvd player you can find some dvd sites that sell horror dvds ( and there is going to be a 3!! disk special edition Dawn of the Dead coming out in the U.S soon.

I thought the zombies in those films where done damn well, mindless idiots who just live too eat, they had no brain really they just stumbled around looking for food.

That's what Zombies are supposed to be like, you have films like The Evil Dead where they seem too know what they're doing, but I wouldn't really call that a zombie film.

The zombies in the 'x of the dead' films were crap. All they did was walk around slowly and you could push them over. I think the idea was so that there could be loads of different films, each one with a different story involving people escaping from zombies. Eventually it would culminate in how the zombies came to be. Who knows, maybe thingamybob (you know, that director) will take the reins back one day and make more films?
