What
A comedy based around a spy business, it's rich in original humour and draws most of its comedy from good-natured ethinticity jokes. Yeah, I realise it doesn't sound too great, and might make you wonder if I'm sitting here in a big white, pointed hat... but it somehow works.
About
It heralds itself to those who liked Austin Powers, and it is quite the same with a larger than life main character and some of the same types of jokes Austin Powers worked with. Rather than playing on stereotypical Brits (as portrayed by Mike Myers) this times it's a stereotypical 'soul fighter', as he's known (acted by Eddie Griffin) The film is only an hour and a half and I'm not sure of the rating as I bought it in Oman, where there is no BBFC style classification. Contains parodies of films such as Bruce Lee's Enter The Dragon. Scenes of fighting and some background story, but mainly meant as a comedy.
How (it works)
The way it pokes fun at everything and all of the character's deliver their roles well, each adding a rich new vein to the comedy. There is also a reasonable amount of sexual humour which works well in the context of the scenes. Some of it is good simply because it is showing a stereotype and mocking it (basically showing in a comedy way). Much of the humour is unexpected and works better for it.
I never think ratings really help you to decide how good a film is, so all I'll say is that it's good and worth seeing if you like comedy along the Spy Hard / Scary Movie / Austin Powers route.
See it.
