1) Resident Evil -
My opinion - An amazingly beautiful game, mixed with dark and hideous themes, and a lot of gore. Its long, but also has a good load of replay value, and to be quite frank, one of the most polished games I've ver played. Not scary for the most part (no games are, contrary to what the idiots on mags say) but every now and then, there is a genuinely scary moment, and also some fantastic cut scenes. The puzzles may be a bit obscure, but they add to the atmosphere.
My Friends - Er. Well. It looks really cool, but the puzzles are way to hard, and theres not enough killing. A bit boring really.
Conclusion? = OTT gore does not sell. Theres no fast firing guns, so its dull. Graphics are not everything. And the fact that he had it for about 2 nights is another example of the need for instant catchiness......
2) Mario Sunshine -
Me - The best game of last year, and amidst my favourites of all time. Fun, huge, and also very very nice to look at. Its all put together with that Nintendo 'magic' and a lot of shine. Literaly. And the little feautres like the extra costume and stuff is cool, and adds to an already incredibly enjoyable game.
Him - I liked Mario 64, but this ain't got any of the snowy levels, and its a little dull. I mean, all you do is catch those shines. Over and over. (Like Mario 64 then......)
Conclusion? = The average player WANTS variety in their levels, regardless of plot. Repetitiveness is boring (apparently).
3) Timesplitters 2 -
Me - Great fun, but totaly over rated. The multiplayer is superb, but the fact people (cough CUBE cough) call it the best FPS ever is ridiculous. The single player is awful, but the extras almost make up for it. Great fun, but only with mates.
Him - WOW! Just like Goldeneye only better. The levels are amazing, and the single player rules! Multiplayer is excellent to, and I really like the flamethrower!
Conclusion? = Shallow is good. :D
4) He bought Die Hard, and said it wasn't as good as Goldeneye. Well done.
Conclusion? = The 'Average Joe' holds up their favourite games ever as benchmarks, and do not look at what they are for themselves. Die Hrd does not try to be a Goldeneye.
Final thoughts - Well. Apparently, the Average Joe does not mind about graphics too much, likes variety, playability, and does not want repetitve tasks. However, they also love Nightfire because of its firng guns and lots of killing. And total lack of the above.
Well, that proves that:
A) EA are really miracle workers, as their games feature none of the above.
B) Classic games are not viewed as what they are inthemselves
C) Gore does not sell.
D) The 'Average Joe' should not be the main target of games companies. They couldn't give a toss, as they have no wish to really give games a try. Why aren't companies aiming more games at the more experianced players, rather than just giving us pap? Because the AJ laps it up (not you AfroJoe!), and so EA rakes it in. While we suffer. And Mario is viewed as bad. Oh dear god.
:D
Average AfroJoe- now that's something we'd never see... :D
People will ALWAYS buy Fifa.
And anything Bond-related.
Whether they are good or nor - so they keep churning them out.
> Because the AJ laps it up

AverageJoe?
AfroJoe?
No difference.
:-D
Resident Evil is the best game on the cube.
