Here is an article on two up-coming games for Nintendo consoles:

'UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., Jan. 16 -- Universal Interactive, Inc. announced today that two video games based on Universal Pictures' action-adventure "The Scorpion King," which stars World Wrestling Federation(R) Superstar The Rock(TM), and opens in theatres on April 19, 2002, are scheduled for release on Nintendo's video game systems in 2002.

"The Scorpion King," a spin-off of "The Mummy" series, is based on the character first introduced by The Rock in the 2001 film "The Mummy Returns." Co-starring Michael Clarke Duncan ("The Green Mile"), Kelly Hu and Peter Facinelli, the exciting action-adventure was written by Stephen Sommers and Will Osborne and David Hayter, from a story by Jonathan Hales and Stephen Sommers with Chuck Russell ("The Mask," "Eraser") directing. James Jacks, Sean Daniel, Stephen Sommers and Kevin Misher are the producers with Vince McMahon serving as executive producer.

About The Scorpion King: Sword of Osiris(TM) for Game Boy(R) Advance:

Developed for the Game Boy(R) Advance by WayForward Technologies, The Scorpion King: Sword Of Osiris is a third person action-adventure sequel to "The Scorpion King." The game is scheduled for a simultaneous release with "The Scorpion King" movie in second quarter 2002.

Players will step into The Rock's role as the Scorpion King to defeat a new set of adversaries in a storyline different from that of the film. The Scorpion King: Sword of Osiris utilizes Game Boy(R) Advance technology to unite the world's newest action hero with the style and feel of classic arcade gameplay in the palm of players' hands.

About The Scorpion King(TM) for Nintendo GameCube(TM):

The Scorpion King is being developed by Point of View, Inc. for release on the gaming industry's newest next-generation console, the Nintendo GameCube(TM), in third quarter 2002. Based on the character first presented in the film "The Mummy Returns," the game is a 3D combat-adventure title that serves as a spin-off to "The Scorpion King" movie.

The game is the story of the future Scorpion King's first adventure, a long and arduous quest to thwart an evil lord's diabolical plan to raise a supernatural army of beast-warriors to conquer the world. Players will wield multiple attack combinations against their enemies as they travel through ancient Egyptian environments.

"The Scorpion King video games build upon the strength of Universal Studios' 'Mummy' franchise and leverage the popularity of The Rock in the genre of interactive entertainment," said Jim Wilson, president of Universal Interactive. "The games will appeal to fans of The Rock and 'The Mummy'/'Scorpion King' franchise as well as to hard-core action-adventure gamers."

The Scorpion King: Sword of Osiris for Game Boy(R) Advance has been rated E for Everyone with violence by the ESRB. The Scorpion King for Nintendo GameCube(TM) has not yet been rated. Further information on the games is available at www.universalinteractive.com .

About Universal Pictures' "The Scorpion King"

Inspired by the legendary Egyptian warrior, "The Scorpion King" is set 5,000 years ago in the notorious city of Gomorrah, where an evil ruler is determined to lay waste to all the nomadic peoples of the desert. The few remaining tribes, never natural allies, have to unite or perish. Knowing their enemy relies on the visions of a sorcerer, they hire a skilled assassin, Mathayus (The Rock), to eliminate the visionary.

After infiltrating the enemy camp, Mathayus discovers that the sorcerer is in fact a beautiful woman (Kelly Hu). Rather than eliminate her, he takes her deep into the desert badlands, knowing that the ruler's henchmen will stop at nothing to rescue her and bring her back. Seriously wounded in the ensuing battle, Mathayus must find the strength to lead his scrappy band of allies back to Gomorrah for a final confrontation.'

On a WWF note, here is some information regarding the up-coming WWF Gamecube game Wrestlemania 2002:

'GameSpot has learned that THQ plans to release WWF Wrestlemania for the Nintendo GameCube this summer. The game could be ready for release as early as June. For its part, THQ has not pinned down an official release schedule for the game, only saying that it will arrive sometime in 2002. In addition to the obvious visual enhancements planned, WWF Wrestlemania will also introduce an entirely new control system.'
