Why cant we have the classic games for our new machines. I rushed out to buy asteroids and frogger as these were my favourite old games, but when i got them home i was horrified. They had been completely changed from the original. I know technology is moving forward and the younguns want the best graphics etc. but when us oldies buy a classic game to remind us of our youth it should be the same one we used to play. asteroids did have the original game hidden in it but frogger was a different game completely. well thats it now ive got it off my chest. by the way im not a technophobic. i love my pc and playstation better than my old spectrum and amstrad but i just loved them old games

As I have said before elsewhere, Emulators are a fantastic way of playing all those old games. The only problem is that some of them are a bit fiddly to get to use at first and some require a powerful pc.

With the right joypad and setup your PC can become an old console, it's a bit like stars in their eyes, one minute you have a windows PC and when the smoke clears, out comes a SNES or a Megadrive. So long as you own the original games, there should be no reason for you to not use them on the emulators.

It's an easy and efficient way of playing your games, instead of trying to find all those old cartridges lying around in the dusty box, put the emulator on and scroll down the list of games instead, then get an instant console on a lovely clear monitor!

Playing old games on their original console is great unless you actually want to play 'all' the original games and don't mind a whole pile of old consoles junking up your room. The way forward is through the PC. There are loads of classic games on shareware, they all cost nothing unless you like them and feel obliged to pay the author a small fee.
The other option is to get one of the packs of games by Atari or Konami etc, that seem to be appearing more and more. They contain 'emulated' software so the finished product is virtually the same as the original arcade.
Then again, you could go for an emulator....

Yep the old classics where great, but as they are classics they will always be remebered for what the origanl was like. Nothing will be able to beat the first installment of that game, no matter how hard they try.

The older games are suited to the older systems as developers try to hard to change the origanal!
