An extra £100 for a region 2 dvd player. I can pay less than that for an all region one. So are nintendo falling into the same trap as sony and Xbox

Well, seeing as DVD players are FAR more expensive in Japan than over here, it works out v. cheap for the Jap gamers!

erm.... yes there is!

You have a chose!

Buy just the basic Gamecube which plays all the amazing Gamecube games. Or get a Gamecube that plays all the amazing Gamecube games, but also plays DVD's aswell.

Why would people want one that plays DVD's?

Well they haven't got a DVD player, so why not get one that looks really stylish, and can play Gamecube games!

Also, so people might prefer to get an X-Box or even worse a PS2 just for the fact that it plays games and DVD's. So Nintendo are covering themselves from people being put off them due to their console not providing this service!

Correction, Nintendo don't usually design games for specific age groups, they design them for ALL age groups.

Anyway, a lot of games for older people are being ported and designed for GameCube.

Yes of course there is a point you get a console and a decent Panasonic DVD player.

If you go out and buy a cheap DVD player for £100 you're gonna find it's pretty crappy, especially if it's multi region for that price.

Yeah, there is a point. You can play games and DVD's on one console. And it's all better than the PS2. The only problem is the region of DVD's that it plays, and the price of import. Besides that, it's a good deal!

I suppose there is a point to buying one if you dont have a DVD player, and you can have them chipped to accept all regions of DVDs.
