Great gameplay, great graphics, and sheer stylishness make it special. Also, it may be short but there's loads of replay value to get all the moves, full DT gauge, S ranks, and if you're not interested in any of that then there's a good chellenge in the harder modes of play.

And I can't say what makes it special but I can say why it stands out above the rest - it's PITIFUL LENGTH!!!!
Essencially, all the game is can be thought ot be a mixture of the best bits from other games:
*The item menus and puzzles from Resident Evil
*The combat from other Capcom games
*Mission styles levels adapted from a whole host of sources
*Story from Japanese mythology
That said, the game works a treat. It just uses the same idea as Jak and Daxter: use the best bits from games of the same genre.
