I recently found myself wondering if i should go and see a film that up until recently i had slated and ridiculed. The film in question is Lord Of the Rings. This is not another conversation about LOTR, merely my opinion on the clever marketing skills of Hollywood.

On Thursday i am going to see LOTR, but yet i hate all these magical films. I can't stand witches and wizards, but because there has been nothing but positive and curious advertising spent on this film. I find myself drawn to wanting to watch it.

This is not the first time Hollywood has got me. Films such as Kiss Of The Dragon and Mean Machine had trailers that made me snigger at the idea of watching them. But for some reason i went to watch them, and must admit i enjoyed them thoroughly.

Does anybody know why this is, and has any one else been lured to the cinema to see a film the expected to hate?

Being a film student, i am supposed to be resistant to brainwashing by Hollywood, but it is soooo hard when they are feeding us material all the time.

I actually enjoy being pleasantly suprised by films that at first i would not dream of watching.
