The "Freeola Customer Forum" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
I've been with virtually all the DVD rental companies on their free trials and had nearly a year's worth of rentals from them without paying a thing.
Guidelines
- Always get your list started the day you sign up, this will allow you to get the maximum time from your DVD rental
- 4-5 working days before the free rental period ends, clear down your list completely. Then send your rentals back that same day. As they don't have any more to send you, wait until the website shows your rentals as returned then cancel. This will ensure that the company can't carry on your subscription.
Companies
Here are the various companies and their free rental periods (subject to change). Note that a lot of companies have now merged, so that there are only a few major companies running lots of other DVD rental sites, such as Tescos/video island (now screenselect), Sainsburies (the same) and Channel 4 (lovefilm).
www.screenselect.com - enter code TDV30 for a 30 day free trial
www.blockbuster.com - enter ST65447 for a 30 day free trial
www.Lovefilm.com - currently only a 6 DVD trial, but look out in papers and on the filmfour/channel4 websites for 30 day offers.
www.Mymoviestream.com - 2 week free rental
www.amazon.co.uk - offers 3 discs for a month free and 10% off any DVD bought on Amazon during that time.
www.1dvd.co.uk - 2 week free trial.
Comments
Feel free to share your experiences with the dvd rental companies. Currently Lovefilm and Screenselect get my vote for the quickest service and best selection of DVDs available.
