Bearing this in mind, and the fact that the GB Advance is apparently going for a simultaneous European/USA release next Autumn, you've got to wonder why they're doing things this way round. Whether the GameCube delay is down to production of software or manufacture of hardware, wouldn't it make much more sense to temporarily stop (or at least greatly reduce) all work related to the GBA and concentrate on making the GameCube as big a success as it can be, as soon as it can be? This would help replace the dying (but not dead) N64 as soon as possible. It's never going to survive 'well into 2002'.
The GBA doesn't really NEED to be release at all, given the continuing success of it's predecessor. I'm not saying it shouldn't be realsed. Far from it. I'm just saying that Nintendo should take another really hard look at where there priorities lie. Otherwise they'll have given the opposition just as much a head start as when the N64 was launched.
I suspect they will really try for an Easter-ish release that year at the latest. Much later and they might as well not bother at all.
