I finally got my hands on "Rez" today - and I've been on it for about an hour or so, and I've never played anything like it.

At first (reading the instruction manual and watching the demos) it all seemed a bit daunting - a "musical shooter", what the hell is that? - but once I started to play, what a bizarre and original game.

I found myself staring at the screen totally transfixed by the hypnotic gameplay and psychedelic visuals.

I've only just scratched the surface of the game, but what I've seen so far has been cool. It's a joy to play. The way the trancey music and the shooting combine is excellent.

If like me you like games that take you to places where you've never been before, then my advice is: get Rez.

Thank you SEGA once again.

Well, I'm off to play some more.

Slightly. You're on a predetermined path, so there's not much room for exploration. The more you shoot, the more the ingame music builds and speeds up. I think the explosive light FX are similar to FantaVision. It's hypnotic. I think the trance I've been in for the past hour is just warring off.

I trust your advice, but I didn't need persuading anyway. First thing after school on the 25th, I'm heading to Woolworths and getting it on PS2 :)
