"Only if you go get me a Chocolate bar"
"Go get it yourself if you want it"
"Ok"
And with that he walked off with the Wavebird controller to the Kitchen to get himself a Toffee Crisp, even though it was MY GameCube and MY Chocolate bar.
Damn the Wavebird for that, I thought it was the ideal chance for me to get to play. But then I had a cunning plan of my own and so stuck in a second controller and said "No more free-skate, lets do it two player".
And so we did and so none of us were bored and got to play. Well free-skate beat 'Horse' in which me and him don't play for reasons...:-S
Anyway, it was this free-skate in Tony Hawks 4 (this game is making my brain work) which found us doing a little game of our own. No Graffiti rubbish, no Horse arguments and no 'Slap' or whatever it's called. Instead we found ourselves on the Shipyard level jumping over the same gap and kissing the rail on this bell-tower type thing. It made a *ding'* sound whenever you hit it, much like a checkout but more erm bell like.
The game?
How many *dings* can you get in succession without taking another run up and missing. I think the highest we got was 5 *dings* in a row which he got, but it definitely added something to the game even if it was short-lived. If you've got a mate over and your on the Shipyard level go and try it out.
"Quite good game I invented here eh?" he said.
"Actually I started it..."
And so another argument brewed.
But it was true, we had invented our own little game much like they do when creating 'Horse' and the other stuff. It made me think about what other games I could do this in and I remembered that some games actually had bits like this in for you to find and use your own imagination. I actually also remember Nintendo Official Magazine, or at least i think it was them, having a very small section about games other people have created within games themselves. Anything to add that little bit more fun or variety.
One game I remember having loads of these games you could make up yourself in was Goldeneye. I haven't played on it for a while now and so I can't really remember some of the stuff I use to make up, but I'm sure many of you can remember what you done. Maybe some of you even still do it today?
Games within games, how would of thought of it?
Oh and the name of the game we made up? Probably 'Ding' or something along those lines…
> Then there's the cone challenge on Gran Turismo
When playing Gran Turismo me and my mate would make up comedy sketches...weird but it worked.
Something like...3...2...1...GO!
Then you'd just reverse.
But hey- Ding sounds fun. :)
They've developed all sorts of challenges like getting through the game using just Thief skills, or no weapon upgrades and so on.
This is a 120 hour+ game we're talking about, so it's not quite as pick up and play :)
Then there's the cone challenge on Gran Turismo speed ring endurance races...see how many laps you can keep pushing a traffic cone around the oval. Exciting stuff.
