The GBA - GC link cable, when you connect your GBA to the GC does it feed off of the main power supply, or does it still require batteries?

How do I get the Virtual Boy to appear in my trophy room? I can't seem to get it. and do each of the shelves get filled with omething, as I have got two empty ones, and on a further note, I have 251 (different) trophies.
