The war goes on
But the battlefield has changed
The war goes on inside his mind
Where shards of broken memories tear up the view
Seen by few
Unable to relate
He turns his gaze inside
Fighting the losing battle that no steady hands can save
The blurred lines of what's right, what's wrong
Ceasing to matter
As the bulletts rain down
Inside his mind
Trapped in the moment
Staring hard through that blank look
He fails to understand
The life outside this land, this time
When all was lost
And nothing won
That battle drew to a close many years ago
Yet putting up the gun
Means nothing
That fight still rages on
To this day
Unseen

I use the term pretty loosely.. just an attempt at some sort of deeper meaning. I suppose it's closer to poetry than anything else.
I had the effects of the Vietnam war in mind, if that helps..
