Some games are given a month of release say Febuary. SR know that the game is to be released in Febuary so they put it down as 1st of Feb as then people will know to expect the game soon. They get a proper release date maybe 1 week before the actually release and then can change the release date to suit.
They wouldnt put Final Fantasy 10 as being released in Febuary as they know it isnt. If its going to be released in the Summer they may put it down as a 1st of June release.
This happened with GT3, it was coming out in July so SR put it down as a 1st July release which was a Sunday. People then knew it was going to be out within the month. And then of course it came out 20 something of July.

I wasnt saying they are unknown unknow e.g. Final Fantasy 10 or The Getaway.
I was saying that they have information that they are coming out in Febuary but havent got a proper date for the release. So they put 1st Febuary down and then they can update it when they get more information. Say it could be down for 1st when its released on the 22nd.
Or there could be 18 games coming 1st Febuary because that is how many are coming out.
For example, how many people are saving their money in preperation for MGS2? Even if the game slips Konami still made people hold onto their money.
