10.) The Great Escape
This movie rules, and no sign of age on it yet. It's got the best Anglo-Yank cast, and it's just so much fun to watch. Very amusing. I like Ives, he makes me laugh - right up to the point where that git of a German shoots the hell out of him. I may have a laughed a bit at that.
9.) Dragonheart
Meh, I'm not sure what it is about this movie. I saw it about 10, so the age was right. And Sean Connery was great as the voice of Draco. By all rights i should have grown out of it. But I love it, even though I'm not a great fan of Dennis Quaid.
8.) Goldeneye
The BEST Bond film, along with Goldfinger. Although Goldfinger didn't have Sean Bean, which is why I choose Goldfinger as my Bond film. It's got everything, including a great name. Onatopp. That name rules. And she kills by squeezing with her thighs. Damn good. And the bond rules. None of this rubbishy Roger "I'm a poof at fighting" Moore stuff. Pierce Brosman rules. No doubt about it. Although he's still not a patch on Connery.
7.) Mallrats
Heheheh, second best of Kevin Smith's films, and more quotable than Dogma, admittedly. Jason Lee rules all in this film. Very very VERY funny, and a great take on 90's consumerism. Ain't that right, Mr Happy?
"Why buy the cow when you get the sex for free?"
6.) Good Will Hunting
This has the best scrennplay ever, and Affleck/Damon won a deserving Oscar. It's simply an amazing film, entartaining and gripping throughout. It's also funny when Damon beats the crap out of his kindergarden bully. Also, it's one of the only films where Robin Williams acts well. The Oscars agree with me, for one of the only times ever.
5.) L.A Confidential
Russell Crowe was better in this than in Gladiator, which is a great reason to watch it. Superbly dark movie, actually and figuratively. Doesn't Kevin Spacey rule in roles like that? Plus there's a great shoot out at a motel.
4.) The Usual Suspects
Damn, this movie annoyed me at first. I was SURE it was Keaton. Go on, admit it, you were sure too. But the way it weaves the story and reveals Verbal at the end is just breathtaking. Brian Singer will never do anything better. The famous line up scene is one of the best scenes ever. Definitely.
3.) Gladiator
Wonderful soundtrack, great acting, jaw-dropping action, beautiful secenery. You can't really ask for anything more? OK, you can - a computer-generated (partly) Oliver Reed. It's the best epic ever, better than the Heston era without a doubt. Crowe got a best actor Oscar for it, though he was better in Confidential, as I said.
2.) Dogma
Think Originality and comedy meets religious satire and you're halfway there. The best role for Jay and Silent Bob yet. My first Kevin Smith film, and forever my favourite. It has Chris Rock, who is, in my opinion, funnier than Eddie Murphy or Chris Tucker, his "competition."
1.) Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring
Not just because it's my favourite book. Not just because it's the longest film I've ever seen. Not just because it's got Sean Bean in it. Not just because Ian McKellen is superb and deserves a Best Supporting Actor Oscar. For all those reasons, and more. The battle scenes are the best EVER, expertly choreographed. Special effects blow your mind, and it's great seeing Agent Smith in drag. No, wait, it isn't. But never mind. The greatest epic of all. I can wait for the next one, though. I'll savour this one for a bit. Then buy the DVD. Then watch the DVD lots. Wahey!
And it's got Viggo. Thats a great name. Go Viggo! He outperformed Sean Bean. Why did they cast him as Aragorn, Viggo sounds LotRish enough as it is.

So there you go. My Top 10 films, for now. I've missed out a load, so to keep people happy, here are others I rate excellent:
Clerks, Amores Perros, Lock Stock, Matrix, The Mummy, The Holy Grail, Chasing Amy, Ronin, Goodfellas, Terminator 2, Coruching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Star Wars, Blade Runner, Schindlers List e.t.c
Your right about chris rock, hes my favourite comedian. Have you see him in down to earth?

Dragonheart rules! It's corny and childish and not at all meaningful!

Stryke I salute your top 10.

Now you're just taking the mick, my son.

Nicely done squeezing in Dragonheart near the bottom where it won't offend anyone, and then the safety of Goldeneye followed by the dangerously left-field choice of Mallrats..

The Usual Suspects and LA confidential would probably make my top 10 too... But more Coen Brothers, yes that's one criticism.. more Coens!
