Console Pick
You get them all the time. Arguments are made for certain consoles and why they are better than others. Here is a typical conversation that may begin between a few 10-year old school boys. One boy will be called A, one called B, and the other (surprisingly) called C:
A: Alright! I finally saved up enough money to buy a gamecube! Yeah!
B: A gamecube! Those suck! You should get an Xbox; they play DVD’s!
C: B’s right, A - the Gamecube is a total waste of time. But why you want an Xbox, B, I have no idea.
B: Coz, they play DvD’s, C, and my parents think DVD players are a waste of time, but they’re gonna get me an Xbox anyway.
A: That’s stupid, B. Dvd players are cheaper than Xbox’s are.
B: Ah, but Xbox is also the best console anyway.
A: Shut up! Xbox sucks! Gamecube rules! (sticks out tongue)
C: Listen you two. YOU BOTH ARE TALKING A LOAD OF RUBBISH!!! Ps2 is the best - it has same graphics and better games.
A: Well I heard a rumour that Gamecube are gonna get their graphics multiplied by, er, 3! Yeah! 3!
B: Well my cousin’s best friend’s tennis partner’s Mum’s doctor’s son has a special edition Xbox that won’t be released for 3 years!
C: Well my Mum’s office partner’s lawyer’s dog’s breeding friend’s owner’s local pet shop owner has a PS3, and I played it and it’s the best ever!
B: But I thought you said –
C: You said the B-U word!! I’m telling!
And so on. You get the picture. The truth is, there isn’t really a better console. But there is a better place to play games.
I mean on PC’s, of course. You can’t really say they are consoles, but they will play games better than anything else. Computers will keep on improving until they are no longer needed, so PC games will forever improve as well.
As for the popular consoles them selves, there isn’t point in arguing about it. There are arguments for every single console there is about how it’s better than another one. Myself, I want a gamecube. Why, I hear you ask? BECAUSE I LIKE NINTENDO. I don’t care if people start arguing with me, and say things mentioned in the above dialogue, I like Nintendo so that’s the company that I’ll choose for consoles. I’m not gonna start arguing with someone else that they shouldn’t buy the console that they’ve decided on – it was their choice and their favourite. If people start arguing with you, and say that you shouldn’t buy your desired console, then don’t be convinced by them just because the other one is technically better. YOU SHOULD GO WITH YOUR FAVORITE!
Let’s be honest, even if one may be considered better than another, that “another” isn’t suddenly gonna be terrible, is it? Let’s just say you haven’t got enough money for an Xbox. You may as well get a gamecube, as it’s still gonna have a very enjoyable time with you, right? Maybe you like your PSone and it’s games. So, you might want to buy a ps2 so you can still play those games you love so much. Maybe you are a huge fan of wwf, and want wwf raw so badly, that you’ll get an Xbox. Maybe you don’t even like flashy stuff, so why not stick with good old ones? And eventually, there will be a stage where everyone will sell their console for another, so if you are some how really disappointed with your console, then you might find someone to trade with.
The choice I leave to you.
