Internet Cafés are cafés where you can not only eat and drink, but also play games, surf and chat whilst on-line. They can be found all around the world, in different shapes and sizes. The popularity of these cafés is growing, and attracting the attention of people of all ages. It's facillities are also being used to teach the older generations how to use the internet, and that it's not too late for them! Although the cafés themselves aren't changing or developing much, something may need to be done if they are to continue growing into a huge world-wide success.

I myself have never been into an Internet Café. But they are becoming very popular, and I may visit one sometime in the near future. The main attraction is of course the use of that wonderfull thing called 'the internet'! What can't you do on-line now??? Your parents always tell you not to talk with your mouth full. That doesn't matter any more! With the technology of the net, you can eat and chat clearly at the same time! If you've ever been told 'you'll starve to death if you don't come off that PC soon', then you'll realsie that it's not that easy when you're at an Internet Café. While working on-line you can order drinks and snacks to stay away from hunger and starvation. Just imagine what it could be like in 10 years....

With on-line gaming being bigger than ever, i'm sure many gamers would love to see the cafés put a strong focus on the gaming side the internet. They could eventually set one area of a café for gaming only, with PC's set up with top-controllers and joysticks! It would be the perfect setup for you to go head to head with your mates via the LAN (local area network). There would also be individual areas for chatting, shopping and surfing.

Or maybe the cafés could take gaming even further, and have entire cafés devoted to gaming and nothing else! With VR sets, food and drink order and loads of PC's, just what you'd need for long hours of gaming fun.

Can you imagine a whole building like this?? I know that some already exist, but what about the possibillities of consoles being introduced into the Internet Cafés?? All 3 of the current next-generation consoles are expected to have some kind of on-line capabillities sooner or later, and this is expected to be massive for the future of gaming in general! Many people would soon be preffering on-line consoles to on-line PC's, it's just a matter of time.

With consoles as the main attraction you could have individual cafés/rooms for individual companies. Imagine...the Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft cafés, all down one high street! Where would you go??? The choice would be hard enough, but you surely wouldn't pass up on the oppurtunity of hours of on-line gaming that could include Perfect Dark, Mario Kart or Half Life!!

So as you can see, the possibillities of the future of Internet Cafés could be incredible!! Changes like this could take effect in only 10 years, or even less! You never know what could happen with technology today, only time can tell what will happen in the future...

A console café would be cool. Especially if it was next door to you. :D

When all the new consoles have been released, and they're all ready for on-line gaming, having these in IC's would bring in MASSIVE profits!! After all, places like SR have consoles in store, why couldn't an Internet Café have the same, but more???

Such things exist. I'd thought about the practicalities of making one before, but those places have to charge enough to recoup the cost of the hardware, on top of the usual running costs of a cafe and a decent internet connection. People refuse to pay those prices; Many have PCs at home now, and most could find a local LAN to go to where they could get 24 hours gaming against more people with their own PCs for the same price as a few hours at a LAN cafe.

This is on the back on the news today that The Playing Fields (biggest UK LAN cafe) has gone in to liquidation, and will cease to exist at the end of the month - www.theplayingfields.co.uk for the full statement. After many years of trying, if simply wasn't paying the bills, and they ran out of money.

Be nice to see more around, but I'd much rather go to organised LANs really.
